The governing body and general body are the two main bodies for decision making in the academic as well as non-academic matters. SCERT in Kerala is an autonomous body headed by its Director. The Hon. Minister for Education is the Chairman of the General Body and the Governing Body of the institution. The academic activities and programmes are carried out by six departments/units. Each department is run by Assistant Professors, Research Officers/ Lecturers. As an academic institution, it plans and coordinates all academic projects and programmes in the state. It also plays an advisory role at the state level in matters related to the academic aspects of school education. The Finance Officer, Senior Administrative Assistant, Accounts Officer, Superintendent and ministerial staff form the main administrative section of SCERT.
